Dave Roberts ’95

Manager

Los Angeles Dodgers

Dave Roberts is in his 11th season as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, appointed in November 2015. A three-time World Series–championship winner and the 2016 National League Manager of the Year, Roberts owns the highest winning percentage in Major League Baseball history among managers with at least 850 games. He has led the Dodgers to the postseason in each of his first 10 seasons, winning nine NL West titles and five NL pennants, while ranking third all-time in postseason victories. Born in Okinawa, Japan, to an African-American father and a Japanese mother, Roberts became the first manager of Asian descent to win Manager of the Year and the first manager of color in Dodgers history. A former MLB outfielder and postseason hero during Boston’s historic 2004 comeback, Roberts is widely regarded as one of the most successful managers of his era. He played baseball at UCLA, where he is the school’s all-time leader in stolen bases, and graduated in 1995 with a degree in history. Roberts was inducted into the UCLA Sports Hall of Fame in 2020. He and his wife, Tricia, have a son, Cole and a daughter, Emmerson.
