Amy Guerra is a communications professional, driven by her passion for marketing and her belief in the transformative power of higher education. Holding a Master’s degree in strategic public relations and public policy advocacy from USC and a Bachelor’s degree in media studies from UC Berkeley, Amy has a strong academic background and deep understanding of the crucial role communication plays in driving change.
In her current role as the executive communications manager for UCLA Strategic Communications, she leads the digital strategy for the university’s chancellor. By utilizing a diverse range of mediums, such as speeches, letters, campus messages, social media, and web content, she helps implement effective communication strategies for both internal and external audiences. Additionally, she is an active member of UCLA’s Strategic Communications’ Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council.
Before joining UCLA, Amy was an account executive at Larson Communications, working closely with prominent media outlets in the education and policy arena. There, she remained at the forefront of the latest public relations trends and education reform movements, managing digital strategies for school districts, charter school networks, and higher education institutions. She also played a key role in leading a successful campaign in Orange County to reduce the stigma related to seeking mental health resources among Latino communities.
