Barbra Ramos is the inaugural assistant director of equity, diversity and inclusion communications under UCLA Strategic Communications. In this role, she focuses on media relations and stories related to race, ethnicity, gender and social justice. Collaborating with campus partners like the Institute of American Cultures, ethnic studies centers and departments, as well as the Center for the Study of Women, the Initiative to Study Hate, and the Hollywood Diversity Report, she contributes to fostering more inclusive and informed dialogues.

She currently serves on StratComm’s EDI Council and recently took the lead on heritage and identity month content packages. Prior to this, Barbra spent a decade at the Asian American Studies Center, where she promoted research, publications and programming focused on Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, activism and social change.
