As the editorial director of UCLA Magazine, Michael Callahan oversees content and strategy for the quarterly publication, as well as bonus ancillary content published throughout the year. In 2024, the Magazine won the Gold Medal from the Council for the Advancement for Secondary Education for best college magazine in the nation, its second consecutive CASE Award for General Excellence.
A longtime contributing editor at Vanity Fair, he has had his work published in some of the nation’s premier magazines, including Town & Country, ELLE, ESPN The Magazine, Esquire, Departures, and The Hollywood Reporter, among others. In addition to his role at UCLA, he is currently a regular contributor to Fast Company and a contributing book critic for the New York Times. Last year he published his third novel, The Lost Letters from Martha’s Vineyard (HarperCollins), and is also the author of the award-winning coffee table book Musso & Frank: Some Place to Eat, a history of the famed Los Angeles restaurant.
